Despite the ongoing drought conditions occurring in most areas of the South east, the Inaugural Summer Sale defied pundits and the weather, resulting in a solid, strong sale with top cow and calf unit fetching $8,500 and a very good clearance.

92% CLEARANCE ON ALL CATTLE

Top price of $8,500 for a cow and calf unit, account of Ros and Bill Heeney, Pine River Droughtmasters, who dispersed their herd with a Calioran 3 year old female with a magnificent Glenlands High Profile bull calf at foot, of 8 months, and 3 months in calf to the Wundaburra Sire, Gladiator.   Buyers were new stud breeders - Lindsay and Janet Allan of "Digby" Gunnedah, N.S.W. and who purchased a dozen very nice heifers at the Sth. Burnett Sale in November, 2006.

Pine Rivers averaged $3,250 for their 15 females.

Another successful vendor was Jeff and Annette Rose, Amavale Droughtmasters with 10 cows and calves averaging $2,825 to a top of $5,250 for Amavale Aimee, a 10 year old matron with a Garthowen Cameron 2 bull calf at foot of 9 months, and in calf again to the same sire... selling to Ken Rungert, Innisfail. 

Warren and Carolyn Kenny of Wajatryn Stud had a successful day for their 5 unjoined heifers averaging $2,600 and topping at $3,600 which was also sold to Ken Rungert.

  • Support for the sale was widespread, going as far north as Innisfail, with
    Ken Rungert who is beginning a stud and purchasing 27 head averaging $2,040
  •  the Ulett family - Whitsunday Droughtmasters at Proserpine, purchasing 10 averaging $2,420
  • Kevin Woolcock of Springsure buying 12 averaging $2,533
  • A. Templeton & Son, AT3 Droughtmasters, Eumundi, taking away 8 registered and 14 Commercials and
  • Westcor Pty Ltd, Buccan taking 9 averaging $2,150 for their Blackbutt aggregation.
