                             Media Release for "CREAM of the CROP" Female Sale 22nd November, 2008

Due to significant withdrawals in the joined section as a result of absence of positive pregnancy tests prior to the sale, total numbers offered were reduced resulting in spirited demand for the quality yarding of Droughtmaster females which averaged slightly less than last year's sale, down by $120.

47 joined females averaged $2,441 ($2445 - last year) to a top of $6,000 for Lot 43 (Bryvonlea Stud) selling to Greg Nugent, Carnudge Stud, Dayboro, who bought 6 females at the sale.  Second top was the Spann Family's Lot 26 who sold for $5,500 to Sean Brassington's Mt Moffat Stud, Bell, who invested $38,750 in 12 superb females.

5 cows and calves sold to average $3,600 ($4538 - last year) to a top of $4,750 for Lot 95 to Sean Brassington.

32 unjoined females averaged $1,922 ($2,156 - last year) to a top of $3,300 for Lot 120 sold to Werner Raspotnik, Exportech Pty. Ltd., Beaudesert ... new Droughtmaster members who invested $34,150 in 13 quality females.

8 packages of 5 straws of semen on account of Brian Hooper, Imbil Droughtmasters, sold to spirited competition with 20 straws of Minlacowie Lexington topping at $525 per straw to Brendan and Marney Scheiwe, Toblo Droughtmasters to average $462.50 per straw.
Strathfield Telesto's 20 straws topped at $275 to Claude Wernicke, Kingaroy, to average $262.50.

Overall average for the 84 head sold was $2,312.50, some $120 short of last year's sale, grossing $194,250 with a clearance of 87.5%.

The Heck family's Bryvonlea stud averaged $5,000 for 2 head Stan & Lyn Tompkins, Cedar View, averaged $3,583 for 3 head.  The Spann family's Minlacowie Stud averaged $3,000 for 9 head.  Greg and Sharon Harms, Oakmore Stud averaged $2,937 for 3 head.  The Birch family from Eidsvold averaged $2,815 for 10 head.

The next D & G Livestock sale at Coolabunia will be the "Summer Sale of Female Genetics" on the 17th January, 2009, with 211 registered,  50 commercials and 40 straws of semen, the sale also incorporating two major dispersals - "Braelyn" and "Tantropic."
