 ROCKY VIEW DROUGHTMASTERS TOP $6,250

Strong and spirited bidding was a feature at the Scott Families Rocky View Stud’s Production Sale at Coolabunia, Kingaroy, last Saturday 4th October.

The sale began at 9:45am and was completed by 12:30pm, allowing buyers to return home early afternoon.

  •  44 cows and calves topped at $6,250 to average $2,573.

  • Lot 13 went to Claude Wernike of Ellesmere, Kingaroy – previously of Monto.

  • 23 PTIC females topped at $2,750 to average $1,913.

  • Lot 28 went to the Kroll Family, Condamine Stud, Chinchilla.

  • 25 unjoined heifers topped at $3,000 to average $1,520.

  • Lot 100 went to Jeff and Annette Rose, Amavale Stud, Barambah.

  • 7 weaner heifers averaged $1,057.

A total of 99 head grossed $202,650 to average $2,047 to achieve a 92% clearance.

Of particular interest was that 54 head from a total of the 99 sold found homes situated in tick free country, which is an enormous growth area for the droughtmaster breed.  Deliveries for clean country from the modern Coolabunia Complex are expedited with ease due to the centre being a clearing dip, with all cattle at D&G Livestock sales being pre-scratched by DPI.

Largest buyer was Daniel Green, Greenview Droughtmasters, Casino, NSW.  He invested $41,250 in 17 head comprising 9 cows and calves, 5 PTIC units and 3 unjoined heifers.  Another bulk purchaser was Don Nichol of Breedlink Pty Ltd, buying for Exportech, Beaudesert, a recently joined member of the Droughtmaster Society, who purchased 1 cow and calf and 8 unjoined heifers outlaying $15,500.

Mostly all the Rocky View cattle were snapped up by other high profile stud breeders to source the genetics available and boost their breeder numbers to supply an ever increasing clientele in the droughtmaster stud and commercial cattle industry.

We wish to thank all buyers, bidders and supporters!
