Media Release for "3rd SUMMER SALE of D/MASTER FEMALE GENETICS" 17/1/09

Record Top Price $19,000 achieved at Coolabunia Complex for 3rd Annual Summer Sale D/Master Female Genetics.

A record price of $19,000 was achieved at the Coolabunia (Kingaroy) Stud selling complex on Saturday 17th January, for the Droughtmaster sire, Glenlands Kearns on account of Allan and Lynne Honor  who dispersed their entire stud of “Braelyn” Droughtmasters.  This prolific sire’s potential was clearly evident with plenty of his progeny being snapped up by a large gallery of buyers.  Glen Honor of “Jackoben” Stud was the successful purchaser, with a fierce duel with other bidders, the losing ones being Brett and Gordon Weick of Barwonga Farm, Palloway NSW.

  • Top Braelyn cow and calf was a Huntly bred female with heifer calf at foot, realising $3,700 to Greg and Hazel Woods, Obi Obi.
  • Top joined female was home bred Daisy-Mae, fetching $2,700 to Alan Hardcastle of Noosaville.
  • A very attractive line of unjoined heifers, all by the Glenlands owned Calioran Adam, topped at $3,800, from a Huntly female, going to Brett and Gordon Weick, NSW.

Braelyn’s total average was $2,619 for the 31 head offered and sold.

The open section of the catalogue attracted good competition resulting in joined females topping at $5,000 twice for two females by the Strathfield Telesto sire and PTIC to $100,000 Minlacowie Lexington, account Brian and Diane Hooper, “Imbil” Stud.  The first went to Brian King, Mooloolah and the second going to Claude Wernicke, Kingaroy.

Cows and calves topped at $4,400 account David and Anita Torrisi’s “Vitwood” Stud for a Tapiola female with an impressive bull calf at foot, snapped up by Claude Wernicke.

Unjoined females topped at $1,500 account Tim Berry’s “Lagoona Bay” Stud, going to Peter and Marilyn Jones, “Grangeside” D/masters.

 22 joined females averaged $1,807
38 cows and calves averaged $1,753
17 unjoined females averaged $1,041
Overall 108 head averaged $1,900 to achieve a clearance of 95% with 76 Bid Cards.

2 semen packages of Strathfield Telesto sold for $225 per straw selling to the Hawkins Family of Samford.

Gross for the sale was $218, 225.00
