SOUTH BURNETT DROUGHTIES TOP  $8,750

A top quality yarding of Droughtmaster bulls was offered at Coolabunia (Kingaroy) Saleyards at the 9^th Annual Sth Burnett Droughtmaster Bull Sale on Saturday 28/8/10.

A large gallery of buyers attended with 62 Bid cards registered.  A good clearance of 89% was achieved with 79 bulls averaging $3,291 – grossing $260,000.

Top price honours went to Stan and Lynn Tompkins’ “Cedar View” stud’s Lot 11 - Cedar View Gene, a 23 month Cedar View Spencer calf, fetching $8,750 and snapped up by astute stud breeder Vince Knopke, “Stewart Valley” stud, Kingaroy.

 2^nd top honours of $7,000 was a dead heat with David and Alice Schloss’s “Glen Valley Lot 45 – Glenn Valley Thatcher, a 32 month son of Cassanova by Billabong Godfrey.   Thatcher was purchased by Bevan Kammholz, Jasanda Stud, Anduramba.

Sharing second top honours was the Birch Family, “Birch Pastoral Trust” of Eidsvold, Lot 66 – Birch Jackson, a 22 month son of Trafalgar Pag-asa to J. & N Baker, Canungra. 

Top averages went to the Schloss family’s “Glenn Valley” stud with 2 averaging $6,625.

2^nd top average was Brian and Yvonne Heck’s “Bryvonlea” stud with 5 averaging $4,350.

3^rd  was Birch Family’s “Birch” stud with 5 at $3,950.

Buyers came from Mitchell, Roma, Toowoomba, Dalby, Biloela, North and South Burnett, Brisbane Valley, Lockyer, Grafton, Cooloola and local areas.

 Bulk buyers were Nelson and Kylie Bentley of Kumbia, purchasing 8, Bernie and Cecily McFadzen, Farmleigh Pastoral, Mitchell with 5, and the Trott Family Grazing, Mundubbera also with 5.

 Many comments were received from well recognized cattle breeders present, that they felt it was one of the best quality yardings of Droughtmaster bulls ever at this venue, and a well deserved compliment to the stud breeders who supported the sale
