MEDIA RELEASE    for “Summer Sale”  

 Extra large numbers of nearly 600 head on offer for registered droughtmaster females at various forthcoming sales allocated for February / March 2010, combined with very patchy rainfall received in the buying area resulted in a buyers’ market at the recent Summer Sale of Droughtmaster Female Genetics, Coolabunia on Saturday 30^th January.

The bright spot in the sale was the dispersal of Les and Leanne Lee’s “Forty Acres” Stud, where 13 superbly prepared females grossed $39,800 to average $3,062, selling to a top of $6,500 for Lot 36 - a “Vale View” cow and bull calf by Strathfield Terminator which went to Brett Weick of Barwonga Farms, NSW.

 Buyers were very selective in their purchases for the main part of the sale and under-prepared females received limited competition.

Overall, the sale grossed $158,000 where 39 cows and calves averaged $1,904, 19 joined females averaged $1,558,  25 unjoined averaged $1,468,  and 26 commercials averaged $602.  Clearance was 71% of the yarding, 50 bid cards were issued for the sale.
