MEDIA RELEASE 6th ANNUAL SUMMER SALE DROUGHTMASTER FEMALE GENETICS DROUGHTIE FEMALES TOP $6,250 AT COOLABUNIA
Despite widespread heavy rain and local flooding over most of South east Queensland and with a ‘minute to midnight’ decision not to cancel the sale, some buyers braved the weather to see loyal vendors meet the market on the day, topping at $6,250 for Nelma Monique, a seven year old cow with a magnificent heifer calf by Nelma Pepsi. The unit was purchased by astute buyers, Paul and Lisa Laycock, High Country Droughtmasters, Esk, to add to their impressive herd of purebred Droughtmasters. Other high prices achieved on the day were - $6,000, $5,750 and $5,000 for cow and calf units also offered by Nelma Stud and all purchased by Fortrus Pastoral Co., Bells Bridge. Overall the sale grossed $184,375 with 84 registered Droughtmasters averaging $1,718 with 48 Commercials averaging $835 to a top of $1,070 to achieve a clearance of 81% on the day. These difficult weather conditions on Friday and Saturday did not deter the commitment of D. & G. Livestock staff who persevered to assist vendors in the preparation of their livestock for the sale ring.
