The
third annual South Burnett Tropical All Breeds Bull Sale once
again confirmed the current buoyant market for all types of cattle.
Buyers came from the grazing regions of Brisbane Valley, Wide Bay and
western Queensland.
Some buyers from the western grazing areas took home eight or nine bulls and it was a credit to vendors that they were able to prepare their cattle to that standard in these drought conditions. With 151 bid cards distributed it proved an interesting day for more than 70 buyers. The top priced offering was sold by Cedar View Droughtmaster Stud at Cedar Pocket, which is owned by Stan and Lyn Tompkins, CV Arrow, also the winner of the 22-24 month Droughtmaster class at this year’s RNA. He was sold for $11,500 to Barry Soley, Cobadah Droughtmaster Stud, Dingo. Shane and Yolande Lambert of Pine Tree Downs Stud at Mothar Mountain purchased CV Ace for $4,000 and Cedar View stud sold its third bull for $3,250. There were many other happy vendors, Pine Tree Downs being one among Little Yabba Droughtmasters, Halcyon Droughtmasters,Bryvonlea Droughtmaster Stud, along with Nanango Charbray breeders F.& G. Lee. Nargoon Charolais Stud Production Sale grossed $150,000 and was incorporated with the All Breeds Sale, finishing with an excellent clearance of 100%, Charolais averaging $6,765 and Charbrays averaging $4,175.
